On March 22-23, 2018, representatives of the Association of Lake Regions worked at the GFSI forum in Gland, Switzerland. The forum was initiated by the United Nations International Organization for the Environment (UNEnvironment), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the University of Geneva (UNIGE). The Forum was attended by over 100 representatives from various international organizations, government agencies and the business community. The purpose of the Forum is to bring together key participants involved in the development of infrastructure projects to achieve sustainable development goals. The main audience of the Forum consists of investors in infrastructure projects, governments, and organizations contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
During the Forum, the Association established working contacts with a number of organizations, including the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), GIZ (German Company for International Cooperation), the International Labor Organization (ILO-MOT), ZOI Environmental Network, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), The WTO International Trade Center (ITC UNCTAD/WTO).
