In Irkutsk, the International Association of Lake Regions held an Assembly on "Innovative and Environmentally Sustainable Development of the Lake Regions of Eurasia."The main representatives of the UN Environment Program were Jan Dusik, Head of the European Office of UNEP and Chief Adviser on the Arctic and Antarctic, Vladimir Moshkalo, Head of the UN Environment Program Office in the Russian Federation. Mr. Dusik has repeatedly expressed support for environmental projects of the International Association of Lake Regions. Speaking at the meeting of the Assembly, he called on the participants to unite more actively and establish a dialogue for the sake of innovative and environmentally sustainable development of the lake regions of Eurasia. The Assembly was actively attended by representatives of the EurAsEC countries, UN organizations, academic institutions and educational centers Plenary session "Lakes of Eurasia: prospects for innovative and sustainable development" were opened by Danilo Turk, former President of Slovenia, Head of the High-level Group on Water and Peace. The leader of the Swiss delegation, Pio Wennubst, Deputy Director General of the Agency for Development and Cooperation of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, assured the press in his speech: "To solve the problems of lake pollution, we need to work together."
